Job summary

Piedmont Fayette Hospital is seeking an Endoscopy Unit Assistant to support physicians during procedures and maintain equipment in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred GI/OR tech or CNA/MA training. Previous Endoscopy or unit secretary experience is a plus, and BCLS certification is often required. Join a team focused on quality care and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Education requirements: H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• GI/OR Tech program preferred.
• CNA/MA program preferred.
• Previous Unit Secretary or CNA/MA experience preferred.
• Experience in Endoscopy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the physician in endoscopic procedures and maintains supplies and equipment.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment per policy.
• Provides appropriate patient care to Ambulatory Care and Endoscopy patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Performs clerical duties to assure optimal function of Ambulatory Care and Endoscopy.
• Assemble and maintain patient charts and records; maintain workstation cleanliness.
• Complete charges for patients.

Responsibilities

Assists the physician in the performance of endoscopic procedures. Maintains supplies and equipment in the Endoscopy Department in proper working order. Cleans and disinfects equipment according to unit and hospital policy. Provides appropriate patient care to the Ambulatory Care and Endoscopy patient under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Performance of clerical duties as necessary to assure optimal function of Ambulatory Care and Endoscopy. Assemble and maintain patient chart material, maintain records and files, maintains order, cleanliness of the workstation. Completes charges for patients.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Graduate of GI/OR Technology program Preferred
• Graduate of CNA/MA program Preferred

Work Experience

• Previous experience as Unit Secretary or as CNA/MA Preferred
• Previous experience in Endoscopy Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Current AHA BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
