Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support GI procedures as a scrub assistant. Responsibilities include handling endoscopes, preparing sterile fields, and ensuring equipment readiness under the direction of GI physicians and RNs.

The role requires high school education, BLS certification, and preferred surgical tech training with OR experience. This is a part-time, day-shift position with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Surgical Technology certificates preferred.
• Courses in anatomy/physiology and basic chemistry at college level preferred.
• One year of Operating room experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• The Endoscopy Technician works as a scrub assistant to the GI physician during invasive endoscopy procedures.
• Insures safe transportation, handling, disinfection and maintenance of flexible endoscopes and reprocessing devices.
• Confirms GI suite procedure is scheduled, ready, and that supplies/instruments are available before patient entry.
• Prepares aseptic/sterile fields and ensures integrity of sterile items during procedures.

Education

High school education or equivalent

Surgical Technology certificates preferred

Anatomy/physiology and basic chemistry courses at college level preferred

One year of Operating room experience preferred

BLS certification required
