Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a GI Endoscopy Tech to support patient care activities and intraprocedural procedures in the GI services department. You will assist physicians with specimen handling, equipment setup, and high-level disinfection, while upholding safety standards and documentation requirements.

The role requires at least 2 years of Endoscopy Tech experience, a high school diploma, and BLS/AHA certification within 6 months, plus SGNA GI Tech certification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High school education completed (HSD, HSED, GED).
• 2 years of Endoscopy Tech experience.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association within 6 months.
• GI Technical Specialist (GTS) certification SGNA Associates Program within 6 months.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Excellent organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care activities and intraprocedural support under RN/physician supervision.
• Assists physicians with retrieval, preservation, labeling and transport of specimens.
• Supports safety initiatives and equipment traceability.
• Prepares procedure rooms and equipment per physician specifications.
• Performs high-level disinfection and reprocessing of equipment/scopes.
• Acts as resource for endoscope reprocessing standards and training.
• Calibrates, operates and maintains equipment per policies.
• Documents procedures and patient charges in endoscope and ultrasound systems.
• Maintains unit inventory and supplies.
• Performs clerical duties including scheduling, data entry and filing.
