Job summary

Ochsner Health in Baton Rouge, LA, seeks a certified Surgical Technologist to ensure availability of equipment and supplies for endoscopy and surgical procedures. You will scrub for procedures, assist the RN, and support the team in a fast-paced operating room.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accepted surgical technology program; BLS from American Heart Association is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved surgical technology program.
• Basic knowledge of sterile technique and aseptic practices.
• Experience in a surgical environment preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Organizes activities and supplies based on surgery schedule and daily needs of the department.
• Competently cares for and provides services to patients in relation to their age and developmental stage under RN supervision.
• Communicates patient care information to patients, families, and coworkers clearly.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
• Adapts to rapid changes in the department due to census, acuity, and resources.
• Performs other related duties as required.
