Utilizes and troubleshoots video system equipment as needed. Assists in preparing patients for procedures under the direction of the RN, providing care for all age groups from Neonate to Geriatric. Communicates pertinent patient information to the RN and completes assignments as part of the multidisciplinary team. Instills medications via endoscope under the direct supervision of the Physician. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, uses PPE appropriately, performs hand washing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports departmental standards and initiatives. Promotes a safe environment, takes appropriate action in emergency situations, and identifies and reports environmental concerns. Performs EKG procedures and provides patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture under the supervision of a professional nurse. Performs other duties as assigned. Operates instrument washers and disassembles, cleans, and inspects instruments and scopes using appropriate solutions and methods. Maintains records related to the decontamination and disinfection process, including scope and instrumentation maintenance. Applies knowledge of endoscopic procedures and techniques, ensuring leak testing is performed on all scopes.
