Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Endocrinology team in Springfield, MA. The MA will support patient intake, clinical procedures, and documentation within the EHR, aligning with a multidisciplinary care team.

The role offers a typical 8:30a-5p schedule, no weekends, with career ladder opportunities and a $2,000 sign-on bonus for external hires. Certification and credentialing are emphasized across levels MAI–MAIV.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR-Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required by American Heart Association.
• Credentialing must be awarded by a third-party body (ARMA, AMT, CCMA, AAMA, NCCT).
• MAI: 1 year medical office experience; MAII: 3 years; MAIII: 5 years; MAIV: Baystate Health promotion track.

Responsibilities

• Patient Intake & History: Room patients for intake, gather vital signs, review histories, document medications, and complete required site-specific screening forms in the EHR.
• Clinical & Provider Support: Prepare treatment rooms, chaperone patients, and assist providers during examinations, testing, and in-office procedures.
• Orders & Documentation: Implement provider orders, process prescription refills, obtain prior authorizations, and document data within required timeframes.
• Procedures: Perform independent procedures including EKGs, vision/hearing screenings, point-of-care testing; phlebotomy and immunizations per policy.
• Patient Discharge & Coordination: Review discharge instructions, provide educational resources, process referrals, schedule follow-ups.
