Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR-BLS required from American Heart Association.
• Career ladder: level determined by organization.
• MAI: Accredited MA program preferred or MA I with 1 year medical office experience.
• MAII: Accredited MA program or MA II with 3 years medical office experience.
• MAIII: Accredited MA program with 5 years experience or MA III competency.
• MAIV: Two years as MA III with promotion potential; credentialed by ARMA/AMT/CCMA/AAMA/NCMA.
• Credentialing must be awarded by a third-party body (ARMA/AMT/CCMA/AAMA/NCMA).
• Practice-specific: abortion/pregnancy loss, pelvic exams, cervical cytology, colposcopy, LEEP, etc.

Responsibilities

• Patient intake and history, vital signs, review histories, document medications, and complete site-specific screening forms in EHR.
• Prepare treatment rooms, chaperone patients, and assist providers during examinations and procedures.
• Implement provider orders, process refills, obtain prior authorizations, document data accurately.
• Perform procedures such as EKGs, vision/hearing screenings, point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, and immunizations.
• Review discharge instructions, provide educational resources, coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments.
