Atrius Health in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Medical Assistant (SEIU) for the Endocrinology team. You will assist clinicians with routine procedures, prep patients for exams and ensure all pre-visit work and EMR updates are completed.

Responsibilities include managing patient flow, greeting and escorting patients, measuring vitals, and assisting with waived point-of-care tests (strep, urine, hCG, glucose). The role supports one or more clinicians and strives to keep EMR information current.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification.
• Associate degree in medical assisting or graduate of medical assistant certification program (preferred).
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Experience typically acquired through a minimum of one-year prior experience in a clinical or customer service setting.
• Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs; EMR experience or aptitude to master EMR based on other technology experience.
• Knowledge of reagent stability and storage; understands testing procedure and factors influencing test results.

Responsabilités

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize patient appointment availability.
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures.
• Prepare patient for examination; measures vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, weight, height).
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests; advise patients of preparation or pre-visit testing required for exams.
• Ensure EMR is updated with medical information and current demographic data, medications, allergies and chief complaints.
• Keeps patients informed of visit status and delays.
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; discontinue inactive prescriptions.
• Assist in resolving minor patient concerns and complaints as appropriate.
• Orders and performs point of care testing (waived): strep, urine, hCG, glucose.
