Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Erie, PA is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for a Monday–Friday shift 11:00 AM–7:30 PM with rotating weekends. You will perform specimen handling, testing, and reporting in the Endocrinology department, ensuring accurate results and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Medical Technology or related field (or an AS degree with equivalent qualifications) and has 1 year of high-complexity clinical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology or related field or Associates degree in Laboratory Science/Medical Technology.
• Certificate/qualification per 42 CFR 493 where applicable.
• 1 year clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested like patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Follow policies when test systems are not within acceptable performance.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and notify senior staff when needed.
