Job Title & Location

Medical Laboratory Scientist I – Erie, PA (On‑Call)

Work Hours

Monday–Friday, 10 am–7 pm with weekend rotation. Shift differentials: 10% for second shift up to 50% of hours, 15% for third shift up to 100% of hours. May be eligible for annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities

• Follow lab procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, reporting, and record‑keeping of patient results.
• Maintain proficiency testing records and ensure consistency with patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Comply with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and other safety guidelines.
• Follow lab policies and procedures when test systems fall outside acceptable performance levels.
• Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or reporting, or notify senior technologist/supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (preferred) or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical high‑complexity testing experience (preferred).

Compensation and Benefits

• Base pay minimum $28.15 per hour.
• Shift differential of up to 10% on second shift and 15% on third shift.
• Eligible for annual performance bonus.
• 401(k) plan with company match up to 5% after 12 months.
• Other benefits as part of Quest Diagnostics benefits package.
