Job summary

UPMC University of Pittsburgh Physicians is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler to join the Endocrine Surgery team in Pittsburgh. The role coordinates and schedules patients for surgical procedures, handles reservations, authorizations, calendaring, and related administrative tasks in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Hours are Monday–Friday during daylight hours with no evenings, weekends, or holidays. Prior surgery scheduling experience is preferred and strong organizational skills are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a medical assisting program or 2–4 years of experience in a medical field preferred.
• Proficiency in medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures and reservations.
• Enter surgical reservations and assist with authorizations and calendaring.
• Coordinate cases with hospital staff to obtain admissions approvals.
• Collect patient demographics and insurance information for admissions.
• Provide pre- and postoperative instructions and patient education.
• Coordinate and track pre-screening exams and postoperative appointments.
• Maintain accurate billing and insurance information.
