Job summary

McKenney's is seeking an End User Automation Specialist to design, build, test, and commission building control systems for HVAC, lighting, power, and monitoring. You will work with Tridium Niagara and other BAS platforms, developing a complete system from the graphical interface to field equipment.

You will troubleshoot hardware, support BAS service, and respond to emergencies, while documenting work status and maintaining contract hours. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of BAS controls platform experience.
  • 1+ year developing complete building controls systems from ground up.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment installation, operation, and repair.
  • Understanding of cyber security in commercial networks.
  • Tridium Niagara 4 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, build, test, and commission building controls systems including programming equipment and sequences.
  • Participate in controls engineering reviews and identify sequence operability gaps.
  • Leverage Niagara tools to optimize productivity.
  • Perform hardware troubleshooting via serial CLI.
  • BAS service and maintenance, diagnosing and repairing control system malfunctions.
  • Respond to BAS emergencies after hours.
  • Prepare documentation and reports of work status and completion.
  • Hold and manage 200 annual contract hours; progress toward Controls Service Tech 3.
  • Adhere to safety policies and company standards.

JOB SUMMARY

Our End User Automation Specialists are instrumental in building long-term customer relationships, solving problems, and making recommendations to improve customers' building systems. They will develop, build, test, and commission building systems such as HVAC, lighting, power, and monitoring.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, build, test, and commission building controls systems to include programming equipment, condenser water plant sequence of operations, and modifications to the graphical interface.
  • Participate in controls engineering review and provide input on design to identify gaps in sequence operability.
  • Leverage Niagara software tools such as the program service, BQL, and service suite to optimize productivity.
  • Perform in-depth hardware troubleshooting techniques such as accessing defective hardware CLI through a serial connection.
  • Perform BAS service and maintenance, including diagnosing and repairing control system malfunctions.
  • Respond to BAS emergencies during off hours.
  • Prepare documentation and reports of work status and completion.
  • Must complete Pathway and pass performance checkout, as well as hold role for a minimum of 12 months until you can progress to Controls Service Tech 3
  • Hold and manage 200 annual contract hours
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 2 years of experience with 2 or more BAS controls platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Trane, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, or Distech.
  • At least 1 year of experience in developing, building, testing, and commissioning complete building controls systems, including the graphical interface, from the ground up.
  • Working knowledge of the installation, operation, and repair of commercial HVAC and control equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits and systems.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Understanding of Cyber Security in commercial networks
  • Tridium Niagara 4 Certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Distech GFX Certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, AND CHARACTERISTICS
  • Ability to apply automation solutions and troubleshoot complex problems on automated equipment that is new and existing.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, network, and wiring schematics, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Ability to manage professional email communications.
  • Ability to manage and maintain a calendar and task management system.
  • Ability to present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude, always, when interacting with customers and co-workers.
  • Must possess and maintain an exceptional work ethic and punctuality.
  • Must uphold company values and demand the highest level of conduct from self and others.
  • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Willingness to market and promote McKenney's cycle of services.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
  • Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves moderate exposure to construction warehouse hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Moderate physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 75 pounds and extensive sitting. Some walking and standing.
