Job summary

McKenney’s is seeking an End User Automation Specialist to build and commission building systems such as HVAC, lighting, power and monitoring. You will develop, test, and commission building controls and support customer relationships with technical recommendations.

Responsibilities include programming, testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring system operability using Niagara tools, handling emergencies, and documenting progress. A defined career pathway leads to more advanced roles.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience with 2 or more BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Trane, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, or Distech).
• At least 1 year of experience developing, building, testing, and commissioning complete building controls systems, including the graphical interface.
• Working knowledge of the installation, operation, and repair of commercial HVAC and control equipment.
• Understanding of Cyber Security in commercial networks.
• Tridium Niagara 4 Certification.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Participate in controls engineering reviews to identify gaps in sequence operability.
• Leverage Niagara software tools to optimize productivity.
• Perform hardware troubleshooting via serial CLI connections.
• Perform BAS service and maintenance and diagnose malfunctions.
• Respond to BAS emergencies during off hours.
• Prepare documentation and reports of work status and completion.
• Complete Pathway and pass performance checkout; hold role for 12 months to progress to Controls Service Tech 3.
• Hold and manage 200 annual contract hours.

Overview

Our End User Automation Specialists are instrumental in building long-term customer relationships, solving problems, and making recommendations to improve customers’ building systems. They will develop, build, test, and commission building systems such as HVAC, lighting, power, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Develop, build, test, and commission building controls systems to include programming equipment, condenser water plant sequence of operations, and modifications to the graphical interface.
• Participate in controls engineering review and provide input on design to identify gaps in sequence operability.
• Leverage Niagara software tools such as the program service, BQL, and service suite to optimize productivity.
• Perform in-depth hardware troubleshooting techniques such as accessing defective hardware CLI through a serial connection.
• Perform BAS service and maintenance, including diagnosing and repairing control system malfunctions.
• Respond to BAS emergencies during off hours.
• Prepare documentation and reports of work status and completion.
• Must complete Pathway and pass performance checkout, as well as hold role for a minimum of 12 months until you can progress to Controls Service Tech 3
• Hold and manage 200 annual contract hours

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Distech GFX Certification.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

• Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
• Work environment involves moderate exposure to construction warehouse hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Moderate physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 75 pounds and extensive sitting. Some walking and standing.
