Job summary

Gulf Island fabricates and assembles enclosure components on site in Houma, LA. The Assembler performs basic welding and mechanical assembly, reads blueprints, and prepares components for welding or final assembly. The role supports roofs, doors and sub-assemblies and maintains a safe, clean work area with PPE and respirators when required.

Team collaboration drives daily production goals and quality. Experience in welding or fabrication and ability to read a tape measure are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in welding, fabrication or mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment
• 1+ years experience in structural fitting
• Must be able to read blueprints
• Basic proficiency with MIG welding
• Must be able to read and use a tape measure
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Must pass a background check

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on enclosure components by following drawings and procedures
• Perform basic mechanical assembly, fitting panels and installing hardware
• Read blueprints, drawings and work instructions for weld/assembly requirements
• Complete roofs, doors and sub-assemblies to support production flow
• Support material movement using overhead cranes or rigging
• Conduct visual weld checks and report defects
• Maintain a clean, safe work area with PPE
• Set up and teardown welding/assembly workstations
• Collaborate with team to meet daily goals
• Perform other duties as assigned
