Job summary

Gulf Island in Houma, LA is seeking an Assembler to support fabrication and assembly of enclosure frames and panels. The role includes basic welding, fit-up, and mechanical assembly, with focus on safe, efficient production and adherence to drawings.

Daily tasks include MIG welding, reading blueprints, fitting panels, installing hardware, and preparing components for welding or final assembly. You will work with a team to meet production goals, while following PPE rules and training for overhead

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in welding, fabrication or mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic proficiency with MIG welding.
• Able to read a tape measure and follow drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on enclosure components by following drawings and procedures.
• Perform basic mechanical assembly, including fitting panels and installing hardware.
• Read blueprints, determine weld and assembly requirements.
• Complete tasks for roofs, doors and sub-assemblies to meet production needs.
• Support material movement using overhead cranes or rigging.
• Conduct visual weld checks; report defects and assist with rework.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow PPE requirements.
• Setup and teardown welding/assembly workstations.
• Collaborate with team to meet daily production goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
