Job summary

City of Garland is seeking an Encampment Response Coordinator to lead the City’s efforts in addressing homeless encampments. The role coordinates with the Garland Police Department, property owners, and contractors to plan, implement, and document encampment removals and cleanup operations.

Responsibilities include public outreach, record-keeping, and cost tracking, with opportunities to present to community groups and at council meetings.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in field operations, code enforcement, environmental compliance, public works, project coordination, or related field.
• Experience coordinating work activities, responding to complaints, working with contractors or multiple stakeholders, or conducting field inspections.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the City’s response to homeless encampments from initial complaint to removal and cleanup.
• Plans and carries out encampment removals and cleanups with police and city staff.
• Directs cleanup crews and contractors and ensures safety and standards.
• Maintains records of notices, correspondence, and site visits.
• Tracks costs for encampment cleanup projects to support budgeting and reporting.
• Prepares reports and summaries for the Director and attends outreach events and council meetings.
