Job summary

Allina Health EMS is seeking an EMT to join our hospital-based EMS system. You will respond to 911 calls, provide pre-hospital patient care under the direction of a paramedic, and transport patients with emphasis on safety and quality care.

You will receive hands-on training and mentorship, work a 13-hour day/evening/night shift, and rotate every other weekend as part of a 0.98 FTE schedule within the Glencoe Ambulance department.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience to meet required functional competencies
• Passing of Fitness for Duty testing
• One year driving experience
• To obtain credentials in accordance with the Office of Medical Direction within the probation period and maintain thereafter

• Provides life support patient care within scope of certification
• Responds to 911 and provides pre-hospital patient care under a paramedic's direction
• Transports patients from scene or facility to facility
• Documents and provides reports to receiving facility and maintains communications with internal and external customers

Job Description:

Responds and provides pre-hospital 911 services in the scope of certification and under the direction of a paramedic. Provides safe and comfortable transport from facility to facility. Maintains and operates vehicle adhering to driving laws and company policy. Stocks and cleans vehicles.

Principle Responsibilities

• Provides life support patient care within scope of certification.
  • Responds 911.
  • Under the direction of the paramedic, provides patient care in a pre-hospital setting.
  • Under the direction of the paramedic, acquires and secures Class A narcotics.
  • Transports patients from scene or from facility to facility.
  • Documents and provides reports to receiving facility.
  • Establishes and maintains communications with internal and external customers.
• Maintains vehicle.
  • Cleans and stocks.
  • Operates vehicle in accordance with driving laws and company procedure.
  • Maintains equipment and uses it per manufacturer and company procedure.
  • Reports safety and/or potential safety hazards.
  • May have base maintenance duties including cleaning and disinfecting.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
• Passing of Fitness for Duty testing
• One year driving experience
• To obtain credentials in accordance with the Office of Medical Direction within the probational period and maintain thereafter

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• One year working as an EMT

Licenses/Certifications

• Certified Emergency Medical Tech - EMT - Office of EMS required if working in MN or
• Certified Emergency Medical Tech - EMT - WI - Emergency Medical Services required if working in WI and
• Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire. After hire recertification required through American Heart Association
• Valid Driver's License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver's license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment

Physical Demands

• Very Heavy Work:
• Lifting weight excess of 100 lbs. occasionally, over 50 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $23.92 to $31.67 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
