Job summary

Allina Health EMS is seeking a Paramedic to join a hospital-based EMS system that values your experience and supports your growth. You will respond to 911 calls, direct on-scene care, document reports, and transport patients while maintaining equipment and vehicles in accordance with policy.

The role requires current Paramedic credentials (MN/WI as applicable), ACLS/BLS, a valid driver's license, and fitness for duty.

Qualifications

  • Degree within 24 months of hire
  • 4 years working in a 911 environment (degree requirement waived)
  • Paramedic in good standing or return within 12 months waives degree requirement
  • Pass Fitness for Duty testing
  • Credentials per Office of Medical Direction during probational period and thereafter

Responsibilities

  • Provides life support patient care in a pre-hospital setting
  • Responds to 911 and directs on-scene care
  • Obtains and secures Class A narcotics
  • Documents and reports to receiving facility
  • Transports patients between locations
  • Maintains communications with internal and external customers
  • Maintains vehicle and equipment and operates per policy
  • Cleans, stocks, and uses equipment such as ventilators and IV pumps
  • Reports safety hazards
  • Other duties as assigned

Responds and provides 911 patient care services in a pre-hospital setting. Directs care plan on scene, documents and provides reports to receiving facility. Maintains and operates vehicle adhering to driving laws and company policy. Maintains, sets up and uses equipment to include ventilators, IV pumps and other advanced level equipment.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Provides life support patient care to those suffering an injury, illness or mental health crisis in a pre-hospital setting.
    • Responds 911.
    • Directs care plan on scene.
    • Obtains and secures Class A narcotics.
    • Documents and provides reports to receiving facility.
    • Transports from scene or from facility to facility.
    • Establishes and maintains communications with internal and external customers.
  • Maintains vehicle and equipment.
    • Cleans and stocks.
    • Operates vehicle in accordance with driving laws and company procedure.
    • Maintains, sets up and uses equipment to include ventilators, IV pumps and other advanced level equipment per manufacturer and company procedure.
    • Reports safety and/or potential safety hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Vocational degree within 24 months from date of hire
  • 4 years working in 911 environment, degree requirement waived
  • For paramedic in good standing who separates from the organization and returns within 12 months, degree requirement waived
  • Passing of Fitness for Duty testing
  • To obtain credentials in accordance with the Office of Medical Direction within the probational period and maintain thereafter
Licenses/Certifications
  • Certified Paramedic - Office of EMS required if working in MN or
  • Certified Paramedic - WI Emergency Medical Services required if working in WI
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Source - American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire. After hire recertification required through American Heart Association
  • Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. For employees hired prior to June 1, 2025, required by January 1, 2027. After hire recertification required through American Heart Association
Physical Demands
  • Very Heavy Work:
  • Lifting weight excess of 100 lbs. occasionally, over 50 lbs. frequently
  • $2,000-$5,000 Starting Bonus for Eligible Talent**
  • 0.9 FTE (72 hours per two-week pay period)
  • Day/evening/night shifts
  • Every other weekend rotation
  • Shift bid every six months based on seniority

Pay Range

Pay Range: $32.20 to $47.86 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
