Job summary

Penn State Health in Mechanicsburg is seeking an EMT to respond to emergencies, assess patients, and provide treatment in line with PA DOH BLS standards. The role includes transporting patients and supporting ALS providers during care.

This full-time position offers a $3,500 sign-on bonus, a tuition discount for eligible employees and dependents starting Jan 1, 2027, and a night shift differential of $2.50 per hour. Hours are 12-hour day or night with varied shifts.

Qualifications

• AHA BLS required within 6 months of hire.
• Current EMT certification in PA or eligible for reciprocity if certified in another state.
• Valid Driver's license or eligible for PA driver's license if out of state.
• PA DOH EMSVO certification within 30 days of start date.
• HazMat Awareness Training and NIMS (100, 200, 700, 800) required within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies, assess patients; provide treatment in accordance with PA DOH Basic Life Support standard curriculum.
• Transport patients according to established protocols and assist Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) providers with patient care management.
• Perform non-emergency routine medical transports utilizing ambulances and wheelchair vans and follow up with complete appropriate documentation.
