Job summary

Capital Health is seeking an EMT trainee to join our team. This is a full-time, 12-week program with 40 hours per week Monday–Friday, providing hands-on instruction and clinical rotations.

The role emphasizes safety, map reading, radio operation, and rapid decision-making in emergencies. You'll learn department policies, emergency medical care delivery, and basic computer skills while maintaining academic requirements and attending all sessions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; must be at least 18.
• Current AHA CPR and First Aid preferred.
• Driver's license required.
• Basic computer skills; read manuals, maps, and instructions.
• Strong English reading, writing, and communication; good time management.

Responsibilities

• Learn to follow departmental policies, rules, and instructions in emergency medical care delivery.
• Read, understand, and retain information in technical materials, rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Learn to read and interpret GIS and street maps and navigate streets; operate EMT equipment.
• Learn to identify hazardous materials and follow safety procedures.
• Analyze emergencies and determine practical courses of action quickly.
• Maintain 70% average or better to take the registry exam and avoid disqualification.
• Complete all assignments and work well as part of a cohesive team; maintain professional appearance.
• Attend all classes and clinical assignments; no more than 16 hours may be made up for emergencies.
• Commit to 12 weeks of FT training; Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week.
