Job summary

Qualifications

• Technical School EMT training program completed.
• EMT Advanced course preferred.
• Experience in hospital ED or ambulance transport preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic emergency medical care per state scope and departmental policies.
• Assists with patient assessment, vital signs, and care under supervision of a Paramedic or clinical leader.
• Administers first aid including CPR, bleeding control, bandaging, immobilization, and breathing assistance as assigned.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely per hospital policy and local traffic laws.
• Performs start-of-shift vehicle and equipment checks to ensure readiness.
• Maintains supplies and equipment for patient care.
• Demonstrates proper PPE use and infection control procedures.
• Completes accurate documentation in the EMR per regulatory guidance.
• Escalates patient care or operational concerns through the chain of command.
• Collaborates with paramedics, nurses, and physicians for continuity of care on transfer to facilities.
