Job summary

Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Full-time Emergency Department Paramedic for midshift (11a-11p). The paramedic provides patient-centered care in a fast-paced ED, performing advanced life support, medication administration, and diagnostic support under supervision of RNs and physicians.

You will help with patient flow, prepare patients for procedures, document in the EMR, stock supplies, and collaborate with the care team.

Qualifications

• Technical school completion of an accredited Paramedic program is required.
• Associate degree in EMS or related field preferred.
• 0-2 years EMT-P experience required.
• Experience in hospital ED, ambulance service, or critical care transport preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical care and technical procedures within scope of practice, including vital signs, IV insertion, wound care, splinting, and cardiac monitoring.
• Assists physicians and nurses with emergency procedures, including resuscitation efforts.
• Documents care and observations accurately in the EMR in a timely manner.
• Collaborates with the nursing team to prioritize care and support patient throughput.
• Maintains supplies and ED equipment, reporting malfunctions or shortages.
• Communicates clearly with patients and families to support understanding and reduce anxiety.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
