Job summary

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, VA is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to join the ED team on a full-time mid-shift (3pm–3am), Monday–Friday with rotating weekends. The role emphasizes rapid assessment, monitoring, and documentation to support high-quality patient care in a busy emergency department.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Certification: BLS and EMT-B; active on NREMT or Virginia EMT license.
• Special Skills: Able to read, write, speak and understand English; Computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Stabilize and immobilize patients; assess neurovascular status after splinting and report deviations to RN/physician.
• Assist with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, interfacility and aeromedical transfers.
• Collect patient specimens following department policies; assist with collecting, labeling and transporting specimens.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies; coordinate with materials management to ensure stock.
• Obtain 12-lead ECG per physician order and provide results to physician.
• Review Medical Director orders and monitor patient progress; report deviations to RN.
• Provide wound care per standards and act as resource to physicians and nurses.
• Follow computer system procedures to obtain accurate demographic, diagnosis, and insurance information.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
