Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital – Oakville location is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician to join the Emergency Department team. This full-time mid-shift role (10:45a-11:15p) supports patient stabilization, monitoring, and documentation in a fast-paced ED.

The ideal candidate will hold BLS and EMT-B certification with an active Virginia EMT license or NREMT, and be able to communicate effectively while performing wound care and patient transfers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS and EMT-B certification; active NREMT or Virginia EMT license.
• English literacy and basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Stabilizes and immobilizes patients and applies splints as needed.
• Assists with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, interfacility, and aeromedical transport.
• Collects specimens and assists clinicians with obtaining and transporting specimens.
• Maintains equipment and supplies inventory to ensure timely patient care.
• Obtains 12-lead ECG and provides results to physician promptly.
• Monitors patient progress and reports deviations to nursing staff and physicians.
• Performs wound care and supports physicians and nurses in patient care.
• Verifies demographic, diagnosis and insurance information in the CPOE system.
• Follows department procedures and training guidelines; may perform additional duties.
