Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking an Emergency Department Support Technician to assist nursing and medical staff with patient care and clerical duties in a busy ED. Under supervision, you will prepare rooms, collect specimens, and assist with basic treatments, documenting observations in the medical record and coordinating with team members.

The role includes weekend work and shifts from 07:00 to 19:00, with daily patient care responsibilities and active patient monitoring.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months patient care experience in a health care setting.
• Certification as EMT, Paramedic, MA, or CNA.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care, assisting nursing and physician staff with patient care procedures.
• Inventories and restocks emergency department equipment.
• Collects and transports specimens such as urine, blood, and cultures.
• Assists with the admission and discharge of patients, initiates and discontinues intravenous lines, cleans and prepares examination room between patients.
• Places patients on monitors, provides wound care, assists with orthopedic procedures and other emergency room procedures as requested.
• Reports and records observations in the patient medical record.
• Reports patient care needs and changes in condition to the nursing staff.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
