Job summary

Henry Ford Rochester Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support the ED team in Rochester, MI. You will assist RNs and physicians, record vital signs, perform routine patient care tasks, and help with specimen collection and monitoring in a fast-paced emergency setting.

The role requires EMT certification or nursing clinical coursework, plus ED experience and competency in sterile techniques, venipuncture, and EKGs. Night shifts with weekend/holiday rotation are involved.

Qualifications

• EMT certification required or equivalent.
• Completion of two nursing clinical semesters required.
• Six months ED experience with venipuncture, EKGs, catheterization, sterile technique and splinting in last 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations with RN/physician.
• Record vitals every 2 hours or as directed in EMR.
• Round on patients every 30 minutes or as directed.
• Perform duties including throat cultures, oxygen administration, enemas, wound care, catheterizations, IV therapy, EKGs, blood draws, and specimen collection.
• Maintain supplies, patient transportation, and basic sterile prep.
