Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Mount Pleasant, MI seeks an ER patient care assistant to support nursing and medical staff in a per diem capacity. You will assist with patient care, prepare examination rooms, and help with admissions/discharges, IVs, and specimen transport.

Responsibilities include wound care, monitoring, and documentation in the medical record. Required are a high school diploma, six months of patient care experience, and BLS; EMT/Paramedic/MA/CNA certs are listed, with ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months patient care experience in a health care delivery setting.
• Certification as an EMT, paramedic, medical assistant (MA), certified nursing assistant (CNA) OR one year operating room or healthcare experience will be considered.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care, assisting nursing and physician staff with patient care procedures.
• Inventories and restocks emergency department equipment.
• Collects and transports specimens such as urine, blood, and cultures.
• Assists with the admission and discharge of patients, initiates and discontinues intravenous lines, cleans and prepares examination room between patients.
• Places patients on monitors, provides wound care, assists with orthopedic procedures and other emergency room procedures as requested.
• Reports and records observations in the patient medical record.

Education
