Qualifications

• Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities are assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN
• Current CPR and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
• Complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, examination, and SPE review
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage medical emergencies with physician standing orders and donor transport as needed
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical issues or donor safety
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS for further evaluation
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support related investigations
