Job summary

You will assess patients, provide care during transfer, monitor vitals, and document care and handovers while collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure seamless continuity of care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• EMT-Basic Certification by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
• Kentucky EMT-Advanced Certification for AEMT.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider (AHA or ARC).
• Additional Kentucky EMS certifications and specialty training as required.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify injuries, illnesses, or emergencies.
• Provide compassionate care and emotional support during transport to facilities.
• Monitor vital signs and adjust treatments to ensure stability and comfort.
• Lift and move patients to/from stretchers, often with heavy weights in a team.
• Safely transport patients using designated EMS vehicles.
• Communicate with receiving personnel for detailed handover and history.
• Maintain accurate records of assessments, treatments, and transport activity.
• Complete PCRs promptly documenting all information.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Ensure EMS equipment and supplies are stocked, maintained, and functional.
• Perform routine vehicle checks to verify readiness and safety standards.
• Report any equipment or vehicle deficiencies to the appropriate personnel.

Education

High school diploma or equivalency

Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Certification by the Kentucky Board of EMS

Kentucky EMT-Advanced Certification for AEMT

BLS for Healthcare Provider issued by AHA or ARC

Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS
