Job summary

AFC Urgent Care South Portland is hiring Medical Assistants to join our fast-paced clinical team. You will work directly with providers and other clinicians, triaging patients, obtaining vital signs, and performing point-of-care testing in a busy urgent care setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Certification as Medical Assistant or registered MA.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• 3+ years MA/EMT experience is preferred.
• Experience in patient triaging is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patient triaging to obtain vitals and medical histories.
• Perform point of care testing (strep, flu, COVID, mono, UA, glucose, pregnancy).
• Assist providers with procedures as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy and EKGs.
• Administer medications per orders.
• Perform patient callbacks and lab quality controls.
• Assist with employer services (drug/alcohol testing, spirometry).
• Support patient registration and first-call handling.
• Train new team members.

Requirements of the Medical Assistant:

• High school diploma or GED


• Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant


• Basic Life Support certification


• 3+ Years of MA/EMT experience


• Experience in patient triaging


• Dependable, ability to work all assigned shifts


• Flexibility in scheduling a must

• $2/hour stipend for weekend shifts worked

Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant:
