Job summary

Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, TX, seeks an Emergency Medical Technician for per diem shifts in the ED. You will assess patients, provide basic management of medical and trauma emergencies under nurse/physician supervision, and support daily ED operations.

Required are EMT training and BLS certification; ACLS/PALS and state EMT licensure are preferred and must be obtained within specified timelines. Per diem status with variable shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or related experience required.
• Basic EMT training or ER experience required.
• Current BLS certification upon hire.
• ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• PALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Certified/Licensed EMT by the state certifying agency required.

Responsibilities

• Assess and provide basic management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under supervision.
• Assist with patient care based on individual patient needs within scope of practice.
• Maintain a safe environment and assist ED staff under supervision.

Responsibilities

Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for the assessment and basic management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under the supervision of the staff nurse and / or physician. Assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice; Assists in maintenance of a safe environment and performs under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
• Basic EMT Training or E.R. experience required.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility May Require Items Listed Below)

• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Certified/Licensed EMT by the state certifying agency/entity required.
