Job summary

Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, TX is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician for per diem coverage. You will assess and manage medical and trauma emergencies under the supervision of the ED staff nurse or physician, providing patient care within the scope of practice and helping maintain a safe environment.

This position requires EMT certification, BLS, ACLS and PALS credentials, with state licensure, and it offers flexible shifts to support the busy emergency department.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Basic EMT Training or ER experience required.
• Current BLS certification required at hire.
• ACLS certification within 30 days and maintain current.
• PALS certification within 30 days and maintain current.
• Current EMT license from state certifying agency required.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under the supervision of the staff nurse and / or physician.
• Assist with patient care and maintain a safe environment.
• Collaborate with ED staff nurse or physician as directed.

Responsibilities

Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for the assessment and basic management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under the supervision of the staff nurse and / or physician. Assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice; Assists in maintenance of a safe environment and performs under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• 1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
• 2. Basic EMT Training or E.R. experience required.
• 3. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):
• 1. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• 2. Current PALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• 3. Certified/Licensed EMT by the state certifying agency/entity required.
