Job summary

The City of Safety Harbor is seeking an experienced Fire Chief to oversee the Fire Department, directing and coordinating all shift operations and leading EMS, Training, and Operations. You will provide incident command at complex emergencies, mentor officers and firefighters, and ensure compliance with medical protocols and regulatory standards while maintaining strong administrative oversight.

Qualifications

• Associates of Science degree in fire science or related field.
• State of Florida Fire Officer II Certification, or ability to obtain within set timeframe.
• State of Florida EMT or Paramedic Certification may be required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs, coordinates, and supervises the Fire Department's shift operations.
• Provides EMS leadership to ensure safe, effective patient care per protocols.
• Mentors officers, firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics on clinical expectations and procedures.
• Oversees EMS QA/QI and ensures regulatory compliance with medical standards.
• Responds to EMS incidents with incident command and coordinating resources.
• Assists with annual budget preparation and department operations.
