Job summary

Boston EMS, part of the Boston Public Health Commission, is seeking a Fleet Services Manager to lead maintenance and replacement programs for its emergency vehicle fleet. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating with the Chief’s office, and ensuring compliance with vehicle policies.

The position emphasizes proactive maintenance, asset tracking, and safety training to support uninterrupted emergency medical services across the city.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related work experience including supervision responsibilities.
• Experience overseeing vehicle maintenance programs and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Support acquisition and replacement scheduling for ambulances and other vehicle fleets.
• Register new vehicles with RMV, assign plates, set up EZ Pass, and coordinate fuel provisions.
• Manage maintenance/repair programs, monitor mileage, engine hours, and DEF.
• Ensure spare ambulances are available and coordinate with crews to minimize service disruption.
• Oversee outside maintenance vendors and manage inventory records and warranties.
• Supervise Fleet Services staff, conduct performance evaluations, and provide feedback.
• Develop safety training programs and ensure compliance with vehicle policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and preventive maintenance programs for the shop.
