Job summary

METRO Ambulance LLC is seeking a proactive Fleet and Equipment Manager to lead the readiness, maintenance coordination, and logistical support of our ambulance fleet and operational equipment. You will oversee shop activity, vendor coordination, and ensure vehicles and equipment are safe and ready for daily operations.

This role supports a 24/7 EMS operation and requires strong ownership, urgency, organization, and follow-through.

Qualifications

5+ years in fleet operations, EMS logistics, or related field.
Leadership experience overseeing employees, vendors, or fleet projects.
Experience managing preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and records.
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance processes; mechanic experience not required.
Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and urgent operational needs.
Proficiency with fleet-management systems, telematics, and inspection tools.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of approximately 30 ambulances and related support vehicles.
Track vehicle condition, availability, repairs, preventive maintenance, and downtime.
Ensure units are safe, clean, properly equipped, compliant, and ready for daily operations.
Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, towing, roadside assistance, and emergency service needs.
Oversee shop personnel and outside vendors, including estimates, invoices, and warranties.
Communicate vehicle availability and priorities to Operations, Dispatch, and leadership.
Maintain inventory levels for equipment and supplies; inspect equipment regularly.
Review inspection, defect, and telematics data for accuracy and action.
Establish procedures to remove unsafe vehicles from service and return to operation.
Maintain organized fleet, maintenance, equipment, and regulatory records.
Coordinate accident/documentation with Operations, Safety, HR, insurers, and vendors.
Monitor costs and identify opportunities to reduce downtime and expenses.
Develop systems and checklists to ensure readiness and accountability.
Provide responsive leadership for urgent vehicle or equipment issues.
