Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in healthcare, fire service, EMS, or related field.
  • 24 months (4,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience in the related field; if applicable, within the last five years.
  • EMS Instructors: Wisconsin DHS EMS Instructor I certification at EMT level; Paramedic preferred or ability to obtain at hire.
  • EMS instructors: Wisconsin EMS licensure (or equivalent such as RN/PA); Paramedic preferred.
  • Eligibility for WCTC Credentialing System.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and instruct quality education programs.
  • AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS Instructor preferred.
  • Technology-based, simulation, and scenario-based instruction desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Engage students in the learning environment using active learning strategies.
  • Promote and coordinate professional development opportunities for Fire/EMS instructors.
  • Increase marketing of Fire and EMS training programs and prepare competent Fire/EMS providers for local employers.
