Job summary

J T is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the EMS/PCBA engineering and document control groups. The role drives advanced engineering capabilities, capital investments, and strategic NPI with top-tier customers and suppliers.

The candidate will shape engineering standards, coach teams, and ensure processes meet ISO/aerospace/medical regulatory requirements while delivering best-in-class quality, delivery, and productivity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 10+ years in EMS/contract manufacturing.
5+ years leading New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process development.
Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in SMT/PCBA.
Background in regulated sectors (A&D, Medical, High-Reliability).

Responsibilities

Direct Engineering and Document Control departments, setting priorities and resources.
Mentor and upskill engineering personnel for technical depth and cross-functional collaboration.
Define and maintain SOPs, KPIs for safety, quality, yield, and throughput.
Forecast resource demands including staffing, training, software tools, and capital equipment.
Drive Lean / Six Sigma continuous improvement and problem solving.
Lead NPI lifecycle from quoting to ramp and transition to manufacturing.
Oversee product documentation, fixtures, machine programming, and work instructions.
Ensure regulatory declarations and lifecycle health across components.
Provide escalation leadership to resolve complex manufacturing disruptions.
Lead ECO management and 8D investigations and deployments.
Align engineering processes with ISO, aerospace, defense, and medical standards.
