Job summary

Microboard in Seymour, CT, seeks a Director of Engineering to lead Engineering and Document Control, shaping the technology roadmap and driving Lean/Six Sigma improvements across PCB manufacturing and new product introductions.

The role partners with customers and suppliers to align capabilities with quality, delivery, cost and reliability goals, while mentoring staff and managing resources for high-impact programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in electronic manufacturing, including 5+ years supporting new product introduction.
• Experience leading engineering teams in SMT/PCBA environments.
• Knowledge of PCBA processes, high-level assemblies, box build and electronics manufacturing.
• Experience in regulated industries (aerospace/defense/medical).
• Lean/Six Sigma experience; Black Belt preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct Engineering and Document Control teams, prioritizing resources.
• Develop and mentor staff to build capability and cross-functional collaboration.
• Establish engineering processes and performance expectations for safety, quality, and delivery.
• Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Quality and Process teams for complex issues.
• Oversee NPI process from quotation to production launch and ensure DFM/DFT.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and controlled for internal and customer requirements.
