Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician/Dispatcher P&F to join our EMS department on a full-time basis, rotating days, evenings, and nights. Under general supervision, you will handle pre-hospital emergency communications by phone, radio, and computer, responding to 9-1-1 requests and coordinating field units across Hennepin County, the region, and the state.

You will enter data into CAD, maintain logs, and support EMS field operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: 1 year of full-time public safety dispatching in past 5 years; or 1 year of current public safety/ EMS employment with CAD, radio and/or telephone operation.
• MN EMSRB EMT or Paramedic certification; International Academy of Emergency Dispatch (EMD) certification.
• Completion of an accredited 9-1-1 Telecommunications course.
• AA/AS degree in business, health sciences or related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read, write, spell, and speak clear English.
• Operate CAD system and document field activity with accuracy.
• Analyze situations quickly and act to assure public safety and citizen safety.
• Maintain written logs and documentation; ensure records are public records.
• Dispatch appropriate emergency units per policy; coordinate operations between staff and equipment.
• Work in a team-based environment and provide high standard of customer service.
• Perform duties as EMT in the field when assigned.
