Job summary

Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service seeks a Dispatcher-Call Taker to receive and schedule emergency and non-emergency ambulance transportation requests. You will communicate clearly with callers, verify medical necessity, and ensure successful billing information collection.

This in-person, non-remote role requires knowledge of EMS resources, accurate data entry, and the ability to work under stress. You will coordinate with the Communications department and maintain shift documentation.

Qualifications

• Must have strong English reading/writing and clear telephone communication.
• Must successfully complete accredited EMD training within 24 months.
• Ability to work in high-stress emergency dispatch environments.
• Must possess accurate typing and data-entry skills.
• Knowledge of EMS resources and medical necessity concepts.

Responsibilities

• Receive and schedule requests for emergency and non-emergency ambulance transport.
• Verify medical necessity for non-emergency transport and collect information for billing.
• Coordinate scheduling to optimize resource utilization.
• Maintain accurate shift paperwork and data entry; generate reports.
