About This Role

Responsible for the oversight and administration of the following programs: Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic. Administers and manages the Associate in Science degree in EMS, continuing education programs, and certifications. Adheres to and monitors program accreditation requirements.

What a Day Of An EMS Director Looks Like
  • Guides, leads, reviews, verifies, observes, and manages the work of people reporting directly to you. Identifies, coaches, and supervises staff and instructors.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and evaluates delivery, operation, maintenance and inventory control activities of the unit. Plans for equipment and facilities and manages textbooks and materials.
  • Works with subject matter experts for curriculum development. Schedules courses, ensures lab safety, and advises students.
  • Develops short-term goals, objectives, priorities and recommendations. Coordinates the implementation of program’s goals, objectives, and evaluation procedures. Develops and maintains manuals regarding policies.
  • Ensures research compliance and document implementation to support accreditation compliance. Clarifies, monitors, and enforces program guidelines, policies, and procedures. Refers disciplinary issues or unique situations to the appropriate person.
  • Models behaviors in the program that result in establishing and maintaining a positive, respectful, appropriate environment. Evaluates the unit relative to its mission and suggest ways services may be refined.
  • Works with other faculty and staff on quality assurance activities.
  • Liaisons among departments, functions or groups, within the College, and with outside agencies and community leaders. Communicate information to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepares for and attends community meetings, professional associations, business groups, and civic clubs. May promote College programs.
  • Conducts all tasks related to the preparation of the annual and other periodic budgets for a department, campus, or college.
  • Handles requests from parents and/or students regarding program, transfers, complaints, and discipline. May conduct workshops with parents regarding College and/or program information requirements.
  • Oversees program to document and maintain student health records. Collects immunization requirements.
  • Attends workshops, seminars or conferences to sharpen job related skills. Maintains on-going knowledge of policies, procedures, laws and ordinances, benefits, and union agreements.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Four years of field level provider experience in a pre-hospital environment with an EMS provider
  • Two years teaching experience in EMS education
  • Supervisory experience
