FSCA is currently hiring an EMS Technician Level II. This is a mid-level Technician responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The role may also include scheduled work on various customer fleets and providing emergency roadside service. The technician must think creatively to solve problems in emergency situations, manage their workday independently, make effective decisions using critical thinking, provide excellent customer service, pay close attention to detail, and maintain situational awareness. Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to operate effectively in emergencies are essential. The technician follows established processes for repairs and maintenance, adheres to safety practices, and documents work thoroughly. The goal is to perform work with excellence and ensure quality output.

Duties

  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, power steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Participate in safety training and stay updated on safety protocols to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Document work according to company standards, upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using company devices and proprietary applications.
  • Communicate with management, team members, and Dispatch via Microsoft Office, email, or phone to discuss repairs, obtain approvals, and share notes.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed for repairs.
  • Complete DOT and other required forms accurately and promptly.
  • Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck, performing periodic reconciliations.
  • Understand and evaluate technical information related to the job.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively, managing time and activities independently.
  • Work independently and manage daily schedule efficiently.
  • Interact with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
  • Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment types, including electrical, brake, cooling, and more.
  • Consult with customers, Dispatch, and Sales to understand vehicle issues and planned work.
  • Inspect, test, and diagnose equipment malfunctions using test instruments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., higher education in a related discipline or 5 years’ experience).
  • Possess and supply necessary hand tools for the job.
  • Must pass a DOT-regulated background screening and physical prior to employment.
  • Valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining, or ability to obtain one.
  • Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license, with a clean 3-year MVR review, and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
