Job summary

County of Chester, South Carolina is seeking a Deputy Director of Emergency Medical Services to oversee daily operations, ensure prompt 911 response, and coordinate with the EMS team for compliant, high-quality patient care.

The role leads QA/QI programs, supervises staff, manages grants and budgets, and represents the department with regulators and stakeholders while guiding training and community engagement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; an Associate degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years in emergency services with a minimum of 5 years in supervisory/management roles.
• Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining required licenses and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily EMS operations, including ambulance deployment and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Oversee QA/QI programs and collaborate with Training Officer to improve patient care and outcomes.
• Serve as liaison on personnel, labor relations, budgets, and grant administration with the EMS Director and stakeholders.
• Represent the EMS division in regulatory matters and coordinate with regulators, providers, and the public.
