Job summary

The EMS Community Paramedic provides primary care and/or advanced life support, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of the chronically ill and injured with the goal of reducing morbidity and avoidable rehospitalizations for our community members.

The Community Paramedic supports existing health services; provides integrated health services in partnership with other health professionals; extends access to health services delivery in underserved and general populations,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Paramedic certification with the NC Office of EMS.
  • Current BCLS certification; ACLS within 1 year of hire.
  • CPI required within 1 year of hire; ASLS within 1 year; NIHSS certification.
  • 2 years of Paramedic experience required; supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-home and in-person EMS services and medical evaluation.
  • Deliver primary care and advanced life support as part of a team.
  • Collaborate with health professionals to extend access to care.
  • Perform assessments and interventions and support wellness and prevention.

Summary

The EMS Community Paramedic provides primary care and/or advanced life support, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of the chronically ill and injured with the goal of reducing morbidity and avoidable rehospitalizations for our community members.

Responsibilities

The Community Paramedic supports existing health services; provides integrated health services in partnership with other health professionals; extends access to health services delivery in underserved and general populations, including primary care, public health, disease management, prevention and wellness, mental health, and dental health; and performs other duties as required. Daily operations include in-home, in-person visits, assessments, and other interventions as needed. Successful candidates will be team oriented, collaborative in their approach to healthcare, and community minded.

Education Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
  • Current certification as a Paramedic with the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • ACLS certification is required within 1 year of hire and must be kept current.
  • CPI certification is required within 1 year of hire and must be kept current.
  • ASLS certification is required within 1 year of hire and must be kept current.
  • NIHSS certification.
Professional Experience Requirements
  • 2 years of Paramedic experience is required.
  • Supervisory/management development course work, training, or experience preferred.
