Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking an Emergency Medical Dispatcher for per diem shifts. You will triage requests for EMS, dispatch units, and coordinate staff deployment to ensure prompt, safe responses. The role requires CAD operation, strong communication, and EMS system familiarity.

Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED with EMS dispatch certification within 3 months. CPR is required, and prior EMS/dispatch experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification required within 3 months of hire date
• CPR Certification required
• EMS experience strongly preferred
• Dispatcher experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate EMS CAD equipment to receive and transmit emergency information
• Oversee Emergency Operations Center and monitor radio communications
• Operate radios, CAD software and EMS management systems
• Receive calls, triage ambulance assignments, provide online first aid instructions
• Ensure compliance with FCC rules and department procedures
• Obtain accurate incident information and relay to responding units
• Document incidents and update CAD with live information
• Maintain and troubleshoot communications equipment and notify supervisors
