Job summary

Seminole State College of Florida is seeking adjunct faculty to teach EMS courses across our programs. Responsibilities include developing syllabi, delivering instruction, grading, and providing timely feedback while using CANVAS and communicating with students and colleagues.

Candidates must hold an Associate degree in EMS or related field, Florida Paramedic/EMT license or RN, with 4 years field experience or 6 years hospital experience; a BS in EMS is desirable and teaching experience is

Qualifications

• Associates degree in EMS, Fire Technology or related healthcare field (minimum).
• Current State of Florida Paramedic, State of Florida EMT certification or Registered Nurse, or other appropriate healthcare clinical professional license.
• At least 4 years of field-level provider experience in the pre-hospital setting or 6 years’ experience in a hospital setting.
• Bachelor of Science degree in EMS or related field (desirable).
• Teaching experience (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Developing a course syllabus in the format determined by the College and posting said syllabus to the College approved system by college posted deadlines.
• Preparing for and delivering class, studio, clinical, or lab instruction; at days, times, modalities and locations determined by the College.
• Using assigned instructional materials to plan and deliver instruction designed to enhance student learning.
• Developing or modifying assignments, assessments and other course materials to support and evaluate student understanding of course learning outcomes established in the course syllabus and per department guidelines.
• Grading student work and providing constructive feedback to students in a timely fashion, including resolution of incomplete or disputed grades.
• Participating in professional development opportunities offered by the college and department.
• Validating textbooks, posting course syllabi, class/grader roosters, and submitting final student grades by established deadlines
• Remaining current with how to use the College’s Online Learning Management System (currently CANVAS) as required by department guidelines.
• Responding in a timely fashion to communication from students, colleagues and supervisors
• Meeting with students individually to review course work as needed.
• Adjunct faculty may work with other faculty in support of curricula improvement as appropriate to promote students' success and mastery of course and program competencies.
