Job description

Entry-Level Career Opportunity | Commercial EMS | Refrigeration & HVAC

Start your career in commercial EMS with hands-on field experience, structured learning, travel opportunities, and a clear path to grow into a skilled technician and future leader.

Position Overview

We are looking for motivated individuals who want to begin a career in Energy Management Systems (EMS). The EMS Apprentice position is an entry-level field role designed for someone who is dependable, eager to learn, comfortable working with technology, and interested in building long-term skills in commercial Refrigeration and HVAC controls.

As an EMS Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced Climate Pros technicians and Foremen on remodels and new construction projects across multiple states. You will gain hands-on experience with EMS installation, wiring, devices, controls, project documentation, and the tools and technology used in the field.

No previous commercial EMS experience is required. We are looking for the right attitude, strong work habits, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Apprentices are expected to follow direction, work safely, ask questions, and steadily develop the ability to complete assigned work to Climate Pros standards.

This is more than a short-term labor position. It is an opportunity to learn a specialized trade, build technical knowledge, travel, and develop toward greater responsibility within the EMS team.

Compensation & Travel

Pay Range: $17-$25 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

OT at Night: Non-travel work performed from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM is paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate. Daytime work and travel remain at the regular rate until the 41st hour of the week.

Travel Support: $50 per day for meals while traveling. Hotel expenses are placed on the company credit card with a standard limit of $100 per night.

Travel is an important part of this role. Climate Pros performs extensive out-of-town work across multiple states, so flexibility and willingness to travel are required.

What We’re Looking For
  • No previous commercial EMS experience required - this is an entry-level opportunity
  • Interest in learning commercial EMS, Refrigeration, HVAC controls, and field installation
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively for out-of-town projects
  • Flexibility to work both day and night schedules
  • Availability for occasional weekend or holiday work when project needs require it
  • Ability to follow directions, project requirements, and safety procedures carefully
  • Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to ask questions and learn from experienced team members
  • Comfortable using technology, including laptops and mobile devices
  • Ability to communicate professionally with Foremen, technicians, vendors, and support personnel
  • Dependable attendance, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail
Learning, Growth & Accountability

Being an EMS Apprentice means learning by doing while supporting the team in the field. Apprentices are expected to arrive ready to work, follow the direction of their Foreman and experienced technicians, and take ownership of their development.

Responsibilities may include assisting with installation work, maintaining safety standards, completing daily time entry and required documentation, keeping work areas organized, communicating field conditions, and supporting other project requirements as assigned.

As your knowledge and skills grow, so will the level of work you are trusted to perform. We are looking for people who want to build a career, take pride in learning the trade correctly, and develop into dependable EMS technicians.

In alignment with Climate Pros’ values and applicable laws, we are committed to promoting pay transparency and equity. Compensation within the stated range will vary based on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
