Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking an HIM Records Clerk to convert paper documents into the Electronic Medical Record and ensure complete, accurate patient records.

You will follow established policies for medical record handling, identify clinical documents, and apply medical terminology as needed. An associate degree or 5 years HIM experience is required, with EMR experience preferred and a bachelor’s degree desirable.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Health Care or five years HIM experience.
• Must identify clinical documents and possess knowledge of medical terminology.
• Two years EMR experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Health Care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process paper documents into the EMR or physical chart as appropriate.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of all documents entered into the patient record.
• Adhere to policies governing handling of medical records.
