Job summary

Montage Medical Group seeks a Health Information Specialist (Temporary) in Monterey, CA, for a six-month assignment with potential for permanency. You will handle typing, scanning, filing, EMR entries, and patient communications under the Practice Administrator, ensuring accurate records and timely referrals.

This role requires strong phone etiquette, exceptional customer service, and knowledge of insurance processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; and related experience (3–6 months) in healthcare or customer service.
• Experience with medical terminology (CPT/ICD9) and understanding of medical insurance processes preferred.
• Must be neat, professional in appearance, detail oriented and well organized.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient demographics, insurance info, and medical histories into EMR accurately.
• Answer phones quickly and courteously using approved etiquette.
• Coordinate referrals and diagnostic orders; obtain authorizations as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and document in EMR; support care coordination across providers.
