Job summary

Calhoun Intermediate School District is seeking a part-time Teacher Assistant for the Adult Training Program (.5 FTE) in Battle Creek, MI. The role supports students with daily instructional activities, supervision, and behavior management under the guidance of a licensed teacher.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and prior experience as a teacher assistant or related training. Assist with medical and personal care needs, attend meetings, and help prepare instructional materials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (and/or)
• Two years experience as a teacher assistant and/or evidence of advanced related training approved by the department.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with implementing each student’s IEP through instructional, behavioral, and therapeutic activities.
• Attend weekly staff and team meetings and participate as appropriate.
• Provide instructional support in school, on Community Based Instruction (CBI), and on Work Placements.
• Assist in planning and implementing educational activities and supervise students.
• Maintain student behavior using approved interventions and document progress toward IEP goals.
• Assist with toileting and personal care needs as required, and maintain classroom organization.
